The BE6412 from Guernsey had left as normal yesterday morning, when the incident happened.

A spokesman for Blue Islands said the plane was en route from Guernsey to Jersey when it was struck by lightning, but the aircraft was able to continue to Jersey without any delay.

The plane landed normally and Blue Islands’ engineering team carried out an immediate inspection.

The airline spokesman said; “lightning strikes are not unusual and needless to say aircraft are designed to withstand these, however a full inspection is required and was carried out by Blue Islands’ engineering team before the aircraft returned to service.

“Passenger, crew and aircraft safety is our number one priority at all times.”

At least one passenger on board the flight had posted on social media to say that he and others had been left “extremely concerned” by the incident.
