Edward Hughes-Jones, 68, made his first appearance from custody yesterday, where he was charged with the 13 counts which included indecent assault and rape involving two underage women.
The allegations themselves date back to the 1980s.
Deputy District Judge Huw Edwards, sitting at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court in Mold, agreed to bail the defendant so he could return to Guernsey if he paid a £100,000 security to the court.
The prosecution sought to remand him in custody, but the bail was granted after the security was offered.
Mr Hughes-Jones had enough to cover it – anything up to the value of more than £4million, the court heard.
The Judge was also told that the two complainants are now adults.
Mr Hughes-Jones bail conditions allowed him to return to his home address in the island. He will next appear at a plea and case management hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court on August 27.
