The incident happened at approximately 05:30 and debris from the fishing boat is in the sea and the vessel is believed to have sunk.

The Jersey Coastguard has been coordinating the major search and rescue operation.
Jersey’s RNLI’s inshore and all-weather lifeboats, two French rescue helicopters, Guernsey’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat and a French naval fixed-wing aircraft have all been involved in the mission.
A large number of Jersey’s fishing vessels have also joined the search.
The Goodwill is now docked in Jersey’s Elizabeth Harbour and Jersey Coastguard is continuing to coordinate the response.

John Napton, Condor Ferries’ CEO, also confirmed the incident had involved one of the ferry firm’s vessels. He also confirmed that all crew and passengers on the Goodwill are accounted for.
“Condor Ferries can confirm that its freight vessel, Commodore Goodwill, has been involved in an incident north west of Jersey.
“The ship departed Guernsey for Jersey at 04:41 this morning and the incident occurred at around 05:30.
“She is carrying five passengers and 24 crew and the Master remains in full command of the vessel. More information will be provided when available.
“All other Condor services are unaffected.”
