Guernsey Police have launched a ‘community survey’ so they can find out what the public think about their work.
Launching it yesterday, the new Chief Officer said the results will help inform and improve local policing operations, and set the service’s priorities for action.
“Our goal is to ensure that the police service we provide meets the expectations of the community as best as possible,” said Damian Kitchen.
“By participating in this survey, community members can share their perspectives on current policing practices, suggest improvements, and highlight specific areas of crime that they are most concerned about. This feedback is important in informing how we improve our operations, and serve the community more effectively.”
The survey covers various topics, including public perceptions of crime and anti-social behaviour and which types of offences cause most concern as well as the public’s experience of their interactions with the Police and their confidence in Police operations.
Chief Officer Kitchen is hoping many people will complete the survey to give an idea of where the priorities lie.
“Of course, we may not be able to do or act on everything everyone suggests in the exact way they describe, but it is vital for us to understand the prevailing feeling in the community,” he said.
“I also believe that open communication and engagement with islanders is key to creating a safer and more trusting environment for everyone. We encourage all Bailiwick residents to take a few minutes to complete the survey and let their voices be heard.”
