“Wherever possible we want to do everything we can to improve our roads,” said the Director of Traffic & Highway Services, Karl Guille, “to make them safer and more convenient for all road users.”

The plans include a ‘central refuge’ for pedestrians and illuminated bollards. The designs have “taken into consideration wheelchair users, people with buggies and the visually impaired” with dropped kerbs and blister paving.
Mr Guille said there needs to be an emphasis on safety.
“These simple changes will help islanders living and travelling through the area. Especially those on foot.”
The rest of the work due to carried out at the end of May include improving the road’s surface, upgrading signs and road markings.
