Guernsey Samaritans are settling into their new premises at the Grow Hub in St Sampson.

The charity moved to its new headquarters after nearly 50 years at Forest Lane, St Peter Port.

Director Mary Carre said the new space “ticked so many boxes for us including being a modern, accessible office space, with available parking for our volunteers and facilities for us to run meetings and training”.

The Hub is now home to several local charities, including Wigwam, Paws for Support and Citizens Advice Guernsey, making it “a hub for the wellbeing and support of islanders in need”, a spokesperson said.

Samaritans Director Jo Cottell said the new facilities meant the charity could support physically-disabled volunteers, which was not possible before.

She said getting new volunteers was “really important”, as it would “ultimately help support our vision that fewer people die by suicide”.

Guernsey Samaritans is part of the national charity, which answers a call for help every 10 seconds.
