Despite being mooted as “improvements to road safety”, many islanders did not agree, leading to them being hastily removed. The original installation works have been costed at around £360 by Guernsey Ports.

In its original statement about the new speed bumps, Guernsey Ports said they would keep an eye on how the new additions went down with the public.
“These measures, and those in the future, are designed to promote the safety of all road users. These measures will be monitored for their effectiveness by Guernsey Ports, and any changes that may be required will be made.”
It is expected that these speed humps will be replaced with a more traditional, single speed bump.
