Two new trustees have been appointed to the local Lloyds Bank Foundation and will work to support charities that have a big impact on people’s lives in the Channel Islands.

Aaron Davies, Children Services Manager at Action for Children Guernsey, and Jane St Pier, a chartered accountant and non-executive director for several social causes, have been selected to join the board of trustees.

They will work to guide the Foundation on strategy and financial management to ensure charity grants totalling around £1m annually have the maximum impact to help people overcome social exclusion and disadvantage.

Mr Davies has over 15-years experience as a qualified youth worker and has focused on those affected by homelessness, the care system and substance use – using a trauma informed response to individuals.

“Through my work in charities, I’ve seen firsthand the powerful difference the foundation makes,” he said. “Not just for organisations across the charity sector, but also for the people and communities across the Channel Islands who benefit from the foundation’s activities. I look forward to contributing to its continued impact”.

Mrs St Pier has chaired bodies from the Youth Commission to the Children’s Convenor Tribunal, and recently co-founded the island’s first homelessness charity At Home in Guernsey.

“I’m delighted to join the Board”, she said. “It has such a great legacy of core funding and developmental support for so many vital charities in the Channel Islands. I am particularly supportive of its focus on social inclusion, which remains a longstanding challenge across our islands”.

Philippa Stahelin, Chair for the Foundation, added: “Both bring exceptional experience, insight and compassion that align perfectly with our mission to support charities creating lasting change across the Channel Islands. Their knowledge of the challenges facing our communities, and their proven commitment to helping people overcome them, will be invaluable”.
