Guernsey is yet to take a decision on whether to give money to Nepal following the country’s recent devastating floods.
This comes after Jersey confirmed it’s sending £200,000 to support the relief effort, after more than 1,000 people have died, with nearly 4,000 still missing.
Deputy Jennifer Strachan, President of Overseas Aid, told Express the commission’s “thoughts and sympathies” were with the victims, but “no decision” had been made yet over a possible donation.
“We recognise the immense human suffering and hardship being experienced by communities across the region,” she added.
The Overseas Aid and Development Commission had “received a number of enquiries regarding potential Disaster and Emergency Relief Awards in response to this crisis and is currently considering these requests”.
“No decisions have been made at this stage, but the Commission is communicating by email to be able to quickly respond to these funding requests as we continue to monitor the situation closely.”
