The States-owned land next to Delancey Park currently houses one of the campuses for the Guernsey Institute, a childcare centre, a music school, and recording studios.
An assessment exercise last summer conducted by the States Property Unit suggested the site could be home to between 14 and 27 homes in future.
Although, as that was a list of States properties which could developed into housing, it was noted that the site doesn’t have funding allocated or plans in progress.
Under the Island Development Plan the plot isn’t zoned for housing but does fall within a Main Centre, which lends itself well for future development.
But the Policy & Resources Committee, which recently supported the funding of the future Les Ozouets post-16 campus, said “no decision has been made on the future use of the site.
“Any decision would need to be made in conjunction with key stakeholders including the Parish and have regard to the site specifications and any planning requirements.”
Both the Countanchez education campus, which is zoned for housing, and Delancey could be free up within two or three years, pending construction of the new facilities.
