The Rotary Club of Guernsey is appealing for nominations from charities for islanders who need assistance this Christmas through a food parcel donation.

The scheme provides families and people facing hardship with non-perishable food goods to help support them over the winter period.

Any organisation or charity which works directly with people in need are invited to nominate people by emailing rotaryguernseyxmasparcels@gmail.com.

Self-nominations, and nominations not from recognised organisations cannot be accepted.

Applications will close on October 31 so the Rotary Club has time to source, pack and send the parcels out.

Paul Watts, Chair of the Food Parcel Team for the Rotary Club of Guernsey, highlighted the importance of the appeal during the cost-of-living crisis.

“Christmas can place an enormous strain on budgets,” he said. “Last year, we were able to deliver 165 food parcels to those nominated by our partner agencies.

“We rely upon the nominating agencies to identify those most in need so that limited funds we can raise on flag day achieves the most impact.

“We sincerely hope that these food packages will go some way to easing the crisis over Christmas for the families that are nominated this year.”
