Your input is needed to help create a new Palliative and End-of-Life Care strategy for the Bailiwick.
The Palliative and End-of-Life Care Partnership Group has launched a public survey to try and understand how current services are performing.
The group, which includes Health & Social Care, GPs, and various relevant charities, wants to know whether people feel supported to die in their place of choice and how the financial and holistic sides of care are managed.
According to Laura Arblaster, a Palliative Care Doctor, they want to ensure that everyone in the Bailiwick receives “the best possible care at the end of their life”.
“To do that, we need to understand people’s experiences, what is working well and where support could be improved,” she said.
This survey is specifically about care and support services; with a spokesperson clarifying that “the survey is not connected to assisted dying,” and will be instead used to “inform practical service planning and future investment,” Dr Arblaster explained.
Becky Bilton, another Palliative Care Doctor, added: “This survey is an important opportunity for the community to help shape a compassionate, coordinated and future-focused approach to end-of-life care.
“We would ask islanders to please take the time to complete the survey as your thoughts will help shape the outcome of the strategy.”

For those interested in participating, the survey must be completed by 19 April, and can be found online at the Island Global Research website.
