The Pay Review Panel will be looking at the remuneration for deputies for the next political term.

“The Committee is delighted that it has been possible to appoint a team with such a diverse range of experience, which will no doubt prove invaluable as the panel progresses its work,” said the Vice-President of P&R, Deputy Heidi Soulsby.

The Chair of the panel is Richard Hamilton, and he’ll be joined by Ed Freestone and Michael Fooks.

“Between them, the panel members have a wealth of experience across the public and private sectors and during their respective careers have examined pay issues from both a management and staff perspective,” said the States of Guernsey in a press statement.

The panel has already met and will commence the first part of its review soon, which will include public consultation in the Spring and a questionnaire issued to all deputies.

Mr Hamilton said: “The Panel is very aware that there are a wide range of views surrounding States Members’ remuneration and is conscious of the need to balance a range of factors very carefully in reaching its conclusions but it is very much looking forward to rising to the challenge in the coming months.”
