A panel will explore the “opportunities and challenges” new digital technology could bring to Guernsey’s finance industry.

The island’s financial regulator, the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, is hosting ‘Digital Forum – Unlocking Digital Finance’ on Monday 23 February.

The panel will discuss innovations like using AI in customer due diligence and introducing stablecoins – a type of digital currency whose value is a tied to something relatively-stable, like the US dollar or gold.

The GFSC’s Alice Joy, who will moderate the panel, said the event was “an opportunity to hear a range of perspectives to consider where the opportunities lie for Guernsey”.

The panel will also feature GFSC’s Director General William Mason, Innovate Guernsey’s Justin Bellinger, and Barnaby Molloy – the new Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance.

The event is free to attend but places were limited, a spokesperson said.
