The General Services Committee eventually proposed to get a new one built. It has now been installed at the southern end of commercial berth one.

“It has been designed in such a way that it will be possible to lift it from the water when periods of heavy weather are forecast,” said the States of Alderney.
“An additional tyre fender will be placed on berth number three on a trial basis to mitigate the loss of mooring space caused by the introduction of the pontoon.”
The Chair of the GSC, Lin Maurice, thanked the Harbour team and Siteweld from Guernsey who’ve worked together to install the new pontoon.
“We’re delighted it’s now in position and has immediately proved its value to all visitors, especially those using the Causeway Explorer ferry service, and of course our local residents.”
