Greg Lydall pleaded guilty to 11 charges earlier this year, with some of the images he had looked at coming under the worst category punishable by law.

He was released on conditional bail in August, when he was told to return to court this morning to be sentenced.

Defence Advocate Peter Ferbrache is expected to offer Lydall’s mitigation today, when more information on his offences is also expected to be given in open court.

The 11 counts Lydall faces include the making of indecent images of children believed to be under the age of 16 at varying levels of severity. The scale used by Guernsey Police and the courts goes from one to five, and the defendant has admitted downloading images across each of the five levels.

The images were stored on a variety of different devices, including external USB drives and SD cards.

Since his admission of guilt, the Committee for Health and Social Care has released a statement on the matter which can be read in full HERE
