The Flying Christine III, (Ambulance and Rescue’s marine ambulance), and her volunteer crew, were recently deployed to Sark twice within a two-day period for urgent patient transfers to Guernsey.

On Wednesday afternoon at the request of the Sark doctor, with the medical crew departing St Peter Port harbour after 14.00, and arriving in Sark approximately half an hour later. They later returned to the with the patient just after 15.00.

The next day, the Flying Christine III responded to an injured patient at Maseline Harbour. After a handover from the Sark doctor, the patient was transferred to the marine ambulance, where paramedic treatment continued during the crossing to Guernsey. 

The patient was then conveyed to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for further care.

A spokesperson for Ambulance and Rescue said: “We are very grateful to the volunteers who crewed Flying Christine III for the two calls and for the assistance of the Sark doctor and island ambulance crew involved in these cases.”

The charity added that Thursday was a very busy day for the Guernsey’s paramedics, with Ambulance and Rescue responding to a total of twenty-one cases, on land and sea, and two transfers for Medevac at Guernsey Airport.
