Guernsey Post is the latest local organisation to fall victim to online scammers.
Sponsored adverts have appeared on Facebook in recent days offering bargain hunters the chance to buy ‘lost parcels’ for just 99pence.
The scammers suggest there are hordes of unclaimed parcels at Envoy House which Guernsey Post is now selling off during a warehouse clearance.
Guernsey Post has said this is not genuine and they’ve urged people not to click on any of the links and to report the ads to Meta.
“We are aware of various sponsored ads on Facebook pretending to be us,” warned the utility. “This is a scam, and we urge you not to click on any links in these ads.
“If you see any of the ads, report it to Facebook immediately, or other social media platforms if you see it there too. The more people report it as a scam, the sooner it will be removed. We really appreciate your help!”
Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of a scam can seek advice from charities such as Citizens’ Advice Guernsey, or organisations including Guernsey Police, the GFSC, Trading Standards, or the organisation that was impersonated itself.
