Soon after 17:00 yesterday, Friday, the parents called the emergency services to report that their child had gone missing from the beach at Moulin Huet on the south coast.

Minutes later, the RNLI’s inshore lifeboat, Elizabeth and Margaret Milligan, was launched to search for the child.

It was soon joined by the Channel Islands Air Search aircraft and the St. Peter Port all-weather lifeboat, Spirit of Guernsey.

All search and rescue craft were stood down soon after.
