Bailiwick Law Enforcement has issued a plea to Guernsey’s public for information on what is being investigated as a “targeted burglary” on a vacant property in the Castel.

They’re asking for help in locating the items, or from anyone who can help identify those who were responsible for the burglary.

The culprit(s) made off with ten ivory items which includes two elephants, an owl, a bookmark, a pair of boots, and five male figures.

Several knives, a multicoloured glass paperweight, a red glass vase and a blue china vase were also taken, along with a solid iron field telescope or rangefinder with a tripod that is possibly from the Second World War.

As part of its plea for help from the public, a Guernsey Police spokesperson said these items may be passed through dealers on offered for sale directly to any interested parties.

“Despite enquiries with local and UK militaria dealers and auction houses, the items have not been traced. We are now asking anyone who may have seen these items, been offered them for sale, or has any information to come forward,” said a spokesperson.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC40 on 222 222 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
