Two convicted sex offenders are trying to appeal their sentences through Guernsey’s Royal Court today.

Former Sark resident Benjamin Solowan and Guernsey man James Pearson-Jump are due to appear in court separately .

In 2025, 40-year-old Solowan was found guilty of 12 counts of sexual offences, including ‘intended sexual activity rape of a child under 13’.

He had indecent images of children in his possession and there was evidence of him attempting to meet individuals he believed were minors, following a pan-island investigation. He was jailed for 12-years last June.

Pearson-Jump was jailed for five-years and three-months in November 2024 after being found guilty of assaulting a child under the age of 13, and two counts of sexual touching of a child under the age of 13.

He had denied the offences but was found guilty at trial.

Solowan’s case is being heard this morning. Pearson-Jump’s case is being heard this afternoon.
