One Specsavers manager has gone to extraordinary lengths to make up for his fashion faux pas at last year’s ‘Wear a guernsey day’ – bringing six guernseys into work and changing into a different one every hour.

Each year, islanders are invited to don their guernseys to celebrate the Bailiwick’s most-iconic item of clothing.

But despite “rarely being seen without a guernsey” during the colder months, Senior Brand Reputation Manager Tom Bradshaw admitted he had completely forgotten to wear one last year.

Determined not to make the same mistake twice, he decided to overcompensate this year with a rather sizeable wardrobe change.

“For some bizarre reason I failed to wear one on ‘Wear a guernsey Day’ last year – I completely forgot,” he said.

“I wanted to put that right, so this year I decided to overcompensate by bringing six guernseys into the office and changing them every hour.”

The woolly wardrobe marathon was also a bit of fun to help raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice, which provides incredible care and support to islanders and their families when they need it most.

Tom said it was brilliant to see so many of his Specsavers colleagues getting involved too, with a colourful collection of guernseys on display across the office.

“There were so many colours on display that we must have had almost the full guernsey palette represented across the office,” he said.

At least there’s no chance of Tom forgetting next year. He’s got five more guernseys to remember to bring in.
