The Guernsey Street Festival starts on 24 July and will be running for two weeks in the streets of St Peter Port showcasing music, theatre, dance and other arts and crafts.
However organisers have received a shock setback after vandals ripped out five of the not-for-profit organisation’s advertising banners.
The vandalism – which occurred sometime between 17:00 on Sunday and 09:00 on Monday morning – has been reported to Guernsey Police.
“Unfortunately some hooligans ripped out five of our new feather banners, from by the Slaughterhouse, threw them [into the Victoria Marina] and damaged a boat nearby by doing so,” said Dominique Ogier from the Guernsey Street Festival.
“We have contacted the police who are looking into the CCTV footage.”
Ms Ogier urged witnesses and anyone else with information about what happened to contact Guernsey Police.
