Following the first truly sunny and warm weekend of the year, Guernsey Police are already urging everyone to behave following reports of anti social behaviour and littering in popular coastal areas.
Officers said they have found a “concerning amount of litter in some areas” after the long Easter weekend, with “a particularly bad case of littering and anti social behaviour in the Albecq area” being investigated.
Anyone with information about what happened there is asked to contact PC 146 Moore on 222 222 or through Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
The Easter weekend saw three days of good weather with the temperature varying between 12c and 16c.
Guernsey Police said that as the “weather is improving and summer approaches” we can all help keep our beaches “as brilliant as they are” by looking after them.
“As summer begins, we’d encourage everyone to help look after our island and community by enjoying beaches sensibly, taking rubbish home and leaving every spot as we found it,” the force said.
“This particularly applies to disposable BBQs left on beaches and headlands, which can cause serious harm.”

Anyone caught littering in Guernsey can be punished with a fine.
The offence comes under the ‘Refuse Disposal Ordinance’ and is categorised as a Band B Fixed Penalty Notice.
The fine is £70 reduced to £60 if it is paid within one week.
Data isn’t available to show how many fines are issued for littering however.

In 2024, 1,436 Band B Fixed Penalty Notices were issued according to the Bailiwick Law Enforcement Annual Report. That includes for parking overtime and other offences.
