Eco Fashion Coach, Kay Davidson, is curating the fashion show which will showcase out-of-season styles and give islanders the chance to purchase “pre-loved” clothes as well as clothes from a Fairtrade fashion brand. The event will be held in aid of Guernsey for Freedom.

“The most sustainable clothes are the ones you already own. You can have pieces which are 10 or 20 years old and can still wear them in a way that makes you feelgood,” said Ms Davidson.

“My role is a modern take on an image consultant, but instead of encouraging people to buy new clothes, I help people to learn to love with pieces they already own and enjoy having less.”

Ms Davidson will be giving a talk at the event.

“I will be sharing my top tips and tricks for how to restyle older clothing items and help people achieve the “feel good factor”; clothes are a part of our identity and it is entirely possible to re-wear older pieces and still feel great,” she said.

“The catwalk looks at the event will show that you can have pieces that are seasons old but be able to wear them in a way that look current for 2022. You would never be able to guess that these pieces aren’t brand new.”

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Guernsey for Freedom, a charity which supports people in India trapped in hereditary slavery through its “one island one village” initiative.

Ms Davidson is a committee member for the charity.

“In the last three years we [Guernsey for Freedom] have helped 600 villagers; we receive progress reports, including from children who are now in school instead of working in brick kilns,” said Ms Davidson.

Ms Davidson continued: “We have heard from a boy who now wants to grow up and be a police officer so he can help other people trapped in slavery and a little girl who is now receiving an education and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. The money raised at this event really will make a difference.”

The event will be held at Holy Trinity Church from 6:30pm on Saturday [30 April].
