He was last seen on Saturday 11 January, in the area around Fort Road St Peter Port.

Despite hundreds of phone calls to Guernsey Police station and a few possible sightings of Mr Bourgaize reported, he is not believed to have been seen since he was caught on CCTV making his way from the Princess Elizabeth Hospital to Fort Road, via Croutes Havilland.

The 29-year-old had been receiving treatment at the Oberlands facility at the PEH prior to his disappearance.

He had been believed to have been responding well to treatment so was allowed a visit. During that visit he left the mental health facility and walked out of the hospital site, towards Jeffrey’s garage and headed for Fort Road.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing grey joggers and a long coat with a fur trim.

Since his disappearance, Guernsey Police have received reports of people matching Mr Bourgaize’s description but the investigating officers have been able to rule them out of their enquiries.

With the search for Mr Bourgaize providing no new leads in the three weeks since he was last seen, Guernsey Police said:

“Officers are continuing to pursue lines of enquiry. However, we have now taken the decision that unless there is a major development in the search, we will no longer provide public updates.

“We want to thank everyone who has contacted us, and we urge anyone who believes they see Matthew to call JESCC on 725111 immediately so we can dispatch any officers in the area. The more timely the information, the better.

“We reiterate that the best way to contact us is by calling JESCC and not leaving comments on our Facebook page, as it is not monitored 24/7.

“Please look at the attached picture of Matthew and contact us with any information you may have – let us decide how valuable it is, don’t keep it to yourself.

“The search remains active.”
