The competition – Poems on the Move – began on 15 September with all entries into the three different classes needed by 15 January 2024.
Mr Muldoon, who has penned 15 poetry publications and won awards including the T S Eliot and Pulitzer prizes, will read the hundreds of expected entries. The efforts of 1,600 were fielded this year.
He’s also a former radio and television producer for the BBC in Belfast and has taught at the US Princeton University for thirty-five years.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Literature and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Mr Muldoon will present the cash prizes for the open, regional, and youth competitions at a ceremony, where he will also read the top poems.
12 entrants will also see their efforts displayed at prominent island sites and inside local buses.
The filter judge is Candy Neubert, who was born and brought up in Guernsey. Her last two poetry collections, Channel and Island, were partly inspired by her home.
