Deputy Lee Van Katwyk has been elected as Vice-President of the Development & Planning Authority.
He’s replacing Deputy Marc Laine in the role after just four months due to reshuffle following the move of Deputy Yvonne Burford from the DPA to Policy and Resources.
The Rules of Procedure of the States of Deliberation and their Committees state that when the President of a Committee steps down, the term of office of the Vice-President also ends.
As Deputy Burford was President of the DPA her election to P&R meant the end of Deputy Laine’s time as Vice-President too.
Deputy Neil Inder was elected as President of the DPA and now the committee has chosen Deputy Van Katwyk to be its Vice-President.
“I’m excited to take up the position of Vice-President of the DPA,” he said.
“It’s already proven a fascinating committee, often dealing with controversial matters which are of great public interest. I look forward to working alongside Deputy Inder to help ensure the fine balance between protecting our island charm, developing future infrastructure, and of course always acting in the best interests of our community at all times.”
Deputy Inder, President of the DPA, said: “Deputy Laine showed a large dollop of pragmatism setting aside his position for a Deputy from the new intake of 2025. Lee has expressed his desire to learn on the job and is very keen to work alongside an experienced President.
“I like talent and I also like workers; Deputy Van Katwyk will work hard in this job. I have every confidence in him.”
