Work continues at Castle Emplacement this week as repointing work is carried out on the Breakwater.
Specialist contractors repointed the southern end of the breakwater closest to the lighthouse.
Joe Armstrong, Guernsey Ports Project Manager, said this was a “continuation” of repointing on the south side of the breakwater because it “faces the full force of the weather and sea.”
He added: “The repointing was deferred until the Castle Bridge was closed so that we could complete this maintenance without creating any additional inconvenience for the public.”
The Castle Emplacement is currently closed to the public as it undergoes a £6.2m project to rebuild the Castle Bridge.
Once the southern side is completed, the Geomarine team will begin working on the northern face during favourable tidal windows.
Mr Armstrong said: “The Castle Breakwater plays a vital role in protecting St Peter Port Harbour, so regular inspections are essential to identify areas where preventative maintenance is needed.”
