The trendy title comes with some hefty responsibility, overseeing both the St John Guernsey charity and Ambulance and Rescue Guernsey.

It comes as St John’s says goodbye to John Hollis OstJ, who recently stood down from the role, having held the position since November 2022.

The role acts as the leading figure and public face of the St John’s board, and requires someone who can lead the organisation, providing oversight and acting as an ambassador.

The voluntary role also means rubbing elbows with political and community leaders, working with the media and representing St John at official events.

Nicola Hoyland-Birch, who is leading the appointment process, explained: “We are looking for an inspirational leader, who shares the St John values and can support and develop the growth of the organisation as a whole.

“The role requires someone who is an experienced and professional chair person, with excellent communication skills and who is able to engage a wide range of stakeholders.”
