Sutton holds a provisional drivers licence, however this had expired and she was not legally allowed to be on the roads.
On 21 July she was pulled over by Guernsey Police and failed to provide a licence or her insurance documents. She first appeared in court on 26 August, where the case was adjourned so she could get legal advice.

During the adjournment, Sutton was found guilty of driving again, on this occasion get help for her cat after it had been hit by a car. She then failed to appear at the next hearing on 16 September.
Sutton pleaded guilty to all charges on 14 October.
During sentencing, Judge Graeme McKerrell decided against activating a suspended sentence for an unrelated matter.
“I am applying exceptional leniency in this case,” he told the defendant.
Instead, he extended the suspended sentence until November 2021, fined her £1,000 and disqualified her from driving for 12 months.
