The Youth Commission says the role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families. Responsibilities include providing emotional support, helping children process their feelings, and navigating the complexities of grief and loss.
The role will help support The Sunflower Project, and the Navigators service.
The Sunflower Project is a support service for children and young people who are experiencing a bereavement, or have a relative with a serious illness, whilst the Navigators service aims to support children with a parent who has cancer or another serious illnesses.
The Youth Commission emphasised its commitment to flexible working arrangements and welcomed applications from individuals seeking full-time, part-time, or term-time positions. Candidates with experience working with children and a demonstrated passion for helping others are also encouraged to apply.
“As a Support Worker, you will have the unique opportunity to walk alongside children, young people and their families, offering tailored support to help them navigate their emotions, build resilience, and find hope. Whether it’s through one-to-one sessions, group activities, or events, your role will be to create a safe space where children and young people feel heard and supported.”
