At last night’s parish nomination meetings 10 out of the island’s 12 constables were ‘voted’ in unopposed. There’ll only be elections in St. Mary where former deputy John Le Bailly is challenging sitting constable Juliette Gallichan, and St. Brelade where former constable Mike Jackson is facing Reform candidate Marilyn Carre.

Three new constables will join the States Assembly: Karen Shenton Stone in St Martin, Richard Buchanan in St Ouen, and Richard Vibert in St Peter.
They will be joining returned constables Simon Crowcroft in St Helier, Len Norman in St Clement, John Le Maistre in Grouville, Chris Taylor in St John, Deidre Mezbourian in St Lawrence, Sadie Le Sueur-Rennard in St Saviour, and Philip Le Sueur in Trinity.

Three deputies – two old hands, and one ‘new’ face – will also be spared having to go to the polls.
The returned deputies were Carolyn Labey in Grouville, and Steve Luce in St. Martin, while John Young has regained his old seat in St. Brelade No 1.
