Jamie Higo (19) was stopped by Honorary Police in St. Ouen on 8 August as part of an operation targeting anti-social drivers.

Operation Canvas was launched in June in response to a number of complaints over those who have used lockdown as an excuse to speed.

Several vehicles in an unsafe condition were seized by the Police in a matter of weeks as part of the clampdown.

Higo pleaded guilty to dangerous driving offences in the Magistrate’s Court this week as a result of the incident, prompting the prosecution to request the Court seize his vehicle.

The court eventually chose not to take that route. They however concluded they do have the power to do so and warned Higo his car would be seized if he is convicted of future motoring offences.
