Lisa Moyse (48) was instead ordered to pay a £205 fine by Magistrate Bridget Shaw.
St. Peter Centenier John Camara, prosecuting, told the Magistrate’s Court this week that the offence took place at 21:10 on 11 February.
Honorary Police who were monitoring traffic noticed Moyse driving her white Peugeot at 40mph at the junction of Mont Les Vaux and Chemin Les Pietons in St. Brelade.
The speed limit for the area is 20 mph.
She wept as she told the court that she was driving to collect her husband from work when she accidentally broke the speed limit.
“I’m really sorry. It wasn’t intentional,” she said.
After hearing that Moyse uses her car for her job with a charity and that she had never been in court before, Magistrate Bridget Shaw decided not to ban her from driving.
She instead fined Moyse £205 and endorsed her licence, warning her: “Twice the speed limit is really quite high and you need to pay more attention.”
