A new app, helping owners help their pets, has been created by an islander trying to make it easier to keep on top of their pets’ prescriptions.
PetMeds lets owners keep track of their pets’ medication, sending notifications when its about to run out, and even ordering it via email without the user doing a thing.
Phil Le Cheminant, the app developer, said the idea came to solve a problem in his own life.
His six-year-old sheepadoodle, Henry, has inflammatory bowel disease, which means he needs 10 pills every day.
“Those 10 pills are four different medications and each one of those has a different dosage, each coming in a packet or pill pot with different quantities, and so they all run out at different times,” Mr Le Cheminant explained.
Often running out faster than he expected, re-orders sometimes took more than a week to arrive, leaving Henry without the medication he needed.

He explained: “The primary reason I built it was so I could be more organised. It tracks your usage, it lets you add lead time, which gives you plenty of time to have ordered it and to pick it up without running out.”
Village Vets and All Pets are preloaded into the website. They will accept automatically sent emails ordering new medication, so owners can have peace of mind knowing their pets prescriptions will be available when they’re needed.
Owners enter the pets details like species, breed, date of birth, microchip details and can even add a picture to remove any ambiguity, so the vet knows exactly which animal they are dispensing for.
Mr Le Cheminant added: “You can also put photos of the medication in there as well, which get included as little thumbnails in the email.
“All of that is to eliminate any ambiguity. When the vet receives this e-mail, they get a very clear overview of the pet and the owner.”
The subscription service is £1.99 per pet per month or £19.99 per pet per month, with a free 30 day free trial to see if it works for you. You can sign up via petsmed.app.
