More than £2,200 has been generated so far by a festive fundraiser that is raising money to build a specialist playground at Mont à l’Abbé School.

James Scott is taking part in the ‘Advent Calendar Challenge’ which tasks participants with travelling a certain distance each day while performing some sort of exercise during December.

Known as an accumulator challenge, the amount of exercise will increase daily. On 1 December participants travelled one kilometre or mile, on 2 December they travelled two kilometres or miles, and so on.

The challenge, like advent, will conclude on Christmas Eve with a 24-kilometre or 24-mile distance. Those taking part can use any method of exercise including walking, cycling, running, or swimming.

Mr Scott has so far raised just over £2,200 towards his target of £7,500 for the Mont à l’Abbé School Playground Project, which aims to fund a state-of-the-art inclusive play area for the school’s students.

He said: “At Mont à l’Abbé School, the pupils face challenges every day, but their joy, determination, and spirit inspire us all.

“With your kindness and support, we can create more than just a playground – we can create a space filled with laughter, belonging, and endless possibilities.”
