Orangutans at Jersey Zoo are now enjoying a large swing from a popular family adventure park that closed its door this summer.

The aMaizin! Adventure Park in St Peter shut on 31 August, as owners Carlton and Kristina Le Feuvre decided to retire.

But instead of getting rid of its equipment, the park has donated items to various local charities and schools.

“We wanted to gift some of our equipment to benefit those charities who we have supported through the park in the past,” said Carlton and Kristina.

A trip to the zoo inspired the owners to donate the park’s large cradle swing to the orangutan enclosure.

“We told Nettie (our favourite orangutan) the good news and she has already arranged collection,” they said.

“We are delighted to see more equipment repurposed – this time for the animal community.”

Meanwhile, the adventure park’s indoor climbing frame has been dismantled and donated to Andium Homes for use on community projects.

Some parts have also been donated to local schools.

The park’s musical garden has been gifted to Mont à l’Abbé School, whilst first-aid kits have been donated to JAYF, a local charity that assists young islanders facing homelessness.

St George’s Preparatory School and Centrepoint each received one of the site’s zipwires.

A spokesperson from St George’s School said: “A massive thank you from St George’s, and from everyone who has enjoyed aMaizin Adventure Park and all it had to offer over the many years. You will be missed.”

Whilst the aMaizin! Adventure Park was still open, the gift shop’s end-of-season stock was donated to various local charity shops.

Following the business’s closure, the leftover merchandise was given to the Durrell Charity Shop.

A spokesperson for the charity store said: “A huge thank you, as ever, from all of us at Durrell.”
