Islanders can warm their hands and hearts in the Royal Square next week with 41 soups on offer to help raise funds to support those affected by homelessness.
There is less than a week to go until one of Jersey’s most popular festive fundraising events returns, with the Shelter Trust’s annual Soup Kitchen set to take place on Tuesday 9 December.
Now in its 27th year, the event brings islanders together over a hot mug of soup to raise funds to support those affected by homelessness in the island.
The Soup Kitchen will open at 10:30am, and organisers say it will continue “until the soup runs out”.

Schools, businesses, community groups and individuals are invited to stop by to enjoy soup and buttered French bread.
The minimum suggested donation is £3, with all proceeds going to the Shelter Trust – which supports around 100 people every night across seven sites in and around St Helier.
Over the past 26 years, the event has raised more than £270,000 for the local homelessness charity, which also provides emergency accommodation, outreach, day services, support for young people, and resettlement and aftercare programmes.
This year will see 41 soups on offer – donated by hotels, cafés, restaurants and community groups – with local bakeries once again providing the bread.

From family favourites to creative seasonal specials, organisers say there will be “something for everyone”.
Businesses placing large orders are encouraged to complete a pre-order form to avoid disappointment and to help keep queues moving smoothly.
School and community choirs will provide entertainment throughout the day.
Both the full soup menu and order form are available to view online here.
