Several of Jersey’s top restaurants, cafés and kitchens will be ladling up a winter treat next week for a good cause, with a simmering selection of soups that promise to chase away even the chilliest day.

The Shelter Trust’s 27th annual soup kitchen, which is sponsored by LGT Wealth Management, will run in the Royal Square on Tuesday from 10:30am and continue “until the soup runs out”.

This year’s fundraiser will offer islanders a choice of 41 soups, each of which will be accompanied by fresh bread supplied by local bakeries.

Businesses and large groups wishing to place orders are encouraged to check the menu in advance and complete an order form available on the Shelter Trust’s website.

This year, the minimum donation is £3, with all the proceeds going directly to the charity.

Over the past 26 years, since the event began, it has raised more than £270,000 to support Islanders affected by homelessness.

The charity provides emergency accommodation, day services, support for young people and resettlement programmes for around 100 people per day, with a current focus on prevention.
