Parents of children due to start primary school next September can apply for a place at a government non-fee-paying school from tomorrow.
Applications open on Wednesday 4 November for children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, who are due to begin Reception in autumn 2027.
Schools will send application forms to parents from tomorrow, with completed forms due back to their catchment school by Monday 23 November.
Parents and carers will then receive letters offering places at the end of January 2027. Families who no longer need an offered place should let the school know at that stage.
Children who have been accepted for a place at a fee-charging school will not be offered a place at a government non-fee-paying primary school.
The admissions notice explains that this is to give families who need a non-fee-paying place “the best chance of getting a place at their chosen school”.
Parents unsure which catchment area they live in can check the government’s online map, contact their local primary school or speak to the Children, Young People, Education and Skills department.
The department can be reached on 01534 445504 or at schooladmissions@gov.je.
Further information about how primary school places are allocated is available on the government website.
