ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up
ArtHouse Jersey will be hosting a pop-up geological-inspired art exhibition this weekend at Greve de Lecq Barracks, featuring collages of materials by printmaker Anne Chowne.
The collages seek to highlight the beauty of extant volcanic activity, wave-cut platforms, mineral veins and sedimentary deposits evident in Jersey.
Her works are representations of the textures, patterns and characteristics of geological sections or individual rocks.
Anne Chowne trained at Bath Spa University and taught at UCL Institute of Education. She is interested in archaeology and geology, and how material evidence of previous events are interpreted and investigated in the Jersey landscape.
Islanders are invited to visit Greve de Lecq Barracks for free on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January between 10:00 and 17:00.
Wellness festival
This Saturday, you can attend a wellness event designed for those in their 40s, 50s, and beyond at the Royal Jersey Showground.
The Awakening Wellness and Midlife Festival covers a range of topics from health and fitness to fashion and finance with advice from expert speakers.
The organisers said: “You live a busy life – we get it, we do too – and somewhere along the way your own health and wellbeing may have moved to the bottom of the priority list. That’s why we’re on a mission to bring together all the knowledge and guidance you need to live life to the full. From fashion, fitness, nutrition, hair & skincare to menopause, sleep, sex and relationships – we’ve got it all!”

Winter Warmer Wassail
Jersey Heritage members are invited to the Hamptonne countryside museum for the Winter Warmer Wassail event, a traditional celebration promoting a good harvest.
The event will include singing, dancing, and noisemaking among the orchard trees. Warm drinks, bread, and cheese will be provided.

He’s behind you!
The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club’s pantomime this year is Rapunzel, running at the Jersey Arts Centre from 4-14 January 2024.
Rapunzel is stolen at birth by Gothel, who brings her up as her child, but she is saved by Rudi.
Nanny Hilda and her children, Max and Maxine, are also determined to find Rapunzel and find themselves in some comic situations on their journey.
Along the way, audiences will meet other fairytale favourites, including princesses Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Anna and Cinderella.
The show promises a chance to boo the baddies, cheer the hero and laugh along to traditional pantomime jokes and slapstick comedy.

Jazz Club at La Haule Manor
Islanders can enjoy jazz music at La Haule Manor every Saturday evening until March 2024.
Philip Le Claire and other artists will perform tunes from the Great American Songbook, including modern twists and Bossa Nova.
Diners and non-diners are welcome, with tapas and an à la carte menu available.
