If you’re in the mood for meeting someone new on the dance floor then head to the Victoria Tavern at Minden Place this Valentine’s Day for a free beginner’s Bachata class.

Bachata is a style of social dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. Once banned for being “too crude”, it requires dancers to get close and personal to Spanish-style music.

The 60-minute session starts at 20:00 before a dance social and mingle after 21:00.

“Paint me like one of your French girls…”

Brush up on love this Saturday 15 February with Sip ‘n’ Paint Jersey’s ‘Paint your Date session’.

You and a date can get creative, drink fizz and all while enjoying some nibbles at The Yard from 18:00 – 20:30.

Sing your heart out

If you need to shake off the week then Vittoria nightclub will have just what you need.

The hugely popular Day Disco returns to Liberty Wharf this Saturday 15 Febraury for a 80s and 90s sing-a-long.

Immerse yourself as guest DJs play all the dancefloor classics, sip on retro cocktails or try your hand at an air guitar competition.

Doors open at 15:00 and shut at 20:30. Fancy dress is recommended.

Celebrating theatre royalty

Witness some of Jersey’s brightest cabaret stars pay homage to the late English playwright and all-round theatre legend Noël Coward.

Local soprano Georgi Mottram, will join Dr Adam Perchard, musical maestro Robert Hazle, and variety superstar Joe Morose at the Jersey Arts Centre in ‘Why Must the Show Go On?’ on 14 and 15 February.

Expect firm Coward favourites such as Mad About the BoyMarvellous Party, and Someday I’ll Find You, as well as Blithe Spirit, Hayfever and Private Lives. They will also perform other parts of Coward’s collection that haven’t been seen live for nearly a century.

The smash hit returns

Back by popular demand, the smash-hit comedy dining experience with Basil and Sybil Fawlty returns to the Ommaroo Hotel this Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 Febraury.

Not forgetting Manuel, guests will experience a side-splitting dinner service straight out of the TV show in an immersive theatre performance where anything could go wrong…

Performing from 18:30 on Saturday night followed by a matinee on Sunday from 13:30, tickets are limited and can be reserved here.

Memory in art

Private and Public gallery’s first exhibition of 2025 opens this weekend with ‘Nostalgiac Reverie: The Silence of Intimacy’ curated by local artist Jodie Bull.

Comprising a diverse array of mediums, the exhibition aims to explore the unique experience of memory and nostalgia.

Opening with a preview evening on Valentine’s Day at the St Helier gallery, the exhibition will then run until 7 March.

The preview event starts from 17:00 – 20:00.

Did someone say vikings?!

Viking raiders, traders and adventurers from Griffin Historical will invade our shores next week and they are on the hunt for new recruits.

Join the team at the Maritime Museum for five days of action-packed family entertainment from Monday 17 to Friday 21 February for the opportunity to find out about these fierce Scandinavian traders and sea warriors.

Participants will get to learn their viking name, take part in crafts and activities and reenact the Battle of Stamford Bridge.

The event runs from 10:00 until 16:00 each day, normal entry fees apply.

Expect great things…

Jersey Arts Centre youtheatre have a treat in store for audiences this half-term with their latest production, the classic Dickensian tale Great Expectations.

The staged-adaptation by Neil Bartlett, directed by Hettie Duncan and Nicole Twinam, will bring to life the eerie marshes and Miss Havisham’s cobwebbed lair of the original novel.

Get Carnival ready

Prepare for the upcoming Carnaval de Paris with the Alliance Française de Jersey in a family-friendly craft session on Wednesday 17 February.

Expect an afternoon of Carnival themed fun and activities and DIY from 14:00 until 16:00 at the organisation’s headquarters at Library Place.

Put a spring in your step

Winter is almost over! Put a spring in your step at the Spring Fair at St Clement’s Parish Hall this Sunday 16 February.

Organised by the parish’s Battle of Flowers Association, locally made spring-themed gifts and small business products wil be on sale from 10:00 until 15:00.

Entry is free and refreshments will be provided in aid of the community group.
