Every week, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here’s this week’s offering…

Pop-up charity shop

Jersey Hospice is hosting a charity pop-up shop this weekend at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

A variety of fashion and accessory items from the charity’s collection will be available to buy.

The event will be open from 10:00 until 14:00 on Saturday 9 August.

You can find out more information here.

Local Artisans’ Markets

The Genuine Jersey Artisans’ Markets is back again this weekend at St Aubin’s Parish Hall.

An array of locally produced wares will be on sale – including goods from Jersey growers, bakers and craft workers.

Local musicians will also be playing throughout the free event, which runs from 09:00 until 15:00.

You can find out more information regarding the event and future markers here.

Completely Graffiti

Islanders are invited to take part in a “hands-on community art event like no other” next week.

A giant collaborative mural will be created by participants, guided by graffiti artist Stephen Lamb.

Four sessions are being held from 11:00 to 15:00 each day from Monday 11 August until Thursday 14 August.

No booking is required and all ages and abilities are welcome, but children must be accompanied by a helpful adult.

You can find out more information about the sessions here.

Free beach workout class

A new social fitness club is hosting a free beach workout event this weekend.

Every Mile Running Club, founded by Dan Cornelius, is hosting the event at La Braye on Saturday 9 August from 09:30.

Attendees are invited to meet the instructor in the car park opposite La Braye café at 09:15.

The workout will involve a full-body warm up, conditioning, and a cool-down with an optional sea swim at the end.

All abilities are welcome and more information regarding the event can be found here.

Battle of Flowers

One of Jersey’s most iconic events is back this year with a new route through St Helier.

The Battle of Flowers, which previously took place along the avenue, will now be making its way through town from the Esplanade.

The Day Parade will take place on Friday 8 August from 13:00, and the Evening Parade will start at 19:30 on Saturday 8 August – followed by a fireworks display.

Both events are free to attend, with no booking required.
