Here’s this week’s offering…

Wonky Town

A two-day festival will be held at Fort Regent this weekend.

Wonky Town will take place in the East Ditch on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August.

The over-18s event will feature five stages and over 100 acts across the weekend.

The event begins at 16:00 on both days, with a 23:00 on Saturday and 22:30 on Sunday. Last entry on both days is at 19:30.

The road up to Fort Regent will be closed to traffic, with access to the venue via Pier Road car park steps.

All pick and drop offs are to be done on the road at the bottom of Pier Road car park.

Single-day tickets are £65, and weekend tickets are £110.

Archaeological open day

History enthusiasts can join Société Jersiaise’s Field Archaeology Department for a special open day at its current excavation in St Lawrence.

The event will take place on Tuesday 19 August from 14:00 until 16:30, with 45-minute guided tours running throughout the afternoon.

The excavation site can be found off Rue des Corvées, which is the lane in St Lawrence that goes from Three Oaks towards Hamptonne Country Museum.

There is no parking in the field or lane, but parking is available at the Community Centre at Three Oaks, St Lawrence Parish Hall or the Hamptonne car park.

Take a walk on the bright side

Islanders are being urged wear orange clothes and take on a 5km walk or run this weekend in support of a local family charity.

‘Take a Walk on the Bright Side’ will be held on Saturday 16 August to raise awareness of and funds for Brighter Futures.

The 5km walk will take place along the avenue, from La Frégate to Bel Royale Pizza Quarter and back.

Participants are encouraged to meet at La Frégate from 09:00, with the walk due to begin at 09:30.

Gorey Fête

This year’s Gorey Fête is taking place throughout the day on Friday 15 August.

Gates opened at 10:00 this morning, with a full day of entertainment, live music, competitions, and community fun on offer.

The day’s festivities will include the annual yard of ale and spaghetti-eating contests.

Entry is free for children under five, £3 for children aged between five and 15, and £7 for those aged 16 and over.
