Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops and more to help Islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here’s this week’s offering…

Full Bloom at ArtHouse Jersey

Jersey-based artist Danny Booth has launched a new exhibition at ArtHouse Jersey’s Capital House in St Helier.

“Full Bloom” invites visitors to enter into a sensory journey surrounded by colour, texture, and natural forms. It features a vibrant new series of paintings and sculptural commissions inspired by flowers, gardens and the changing seasons.

The exhibition officially opened last night and is now open to the public every day, excluding Mondays, from 12pm to 6pm until 30 August.

Full Bloom is presented as part of ArtHouse Jersey’s New Work Programme, supported by Coutts Crown Dependencies.

Entry is free, with no booking necessary.

Oddsocks: Romeo & Juliet

Oddsocks Productions return to Jersey with their new take on the well-loved classic that is Romeo & Juliet.

The beloved Shakespeare tragedy is being performed at Coronation Park at 7pm every day until 4 August.

There is an additional 2pm show on Saturday 1 August, but no shows on Sunday 2 August.

Audiences are invited to bring food and drinks. Seating is provided, but attendees may wish to bring their own picnic blankets or chairs.

Evening performances will finish at 9pm. Audiences are encouraged to dress suitably as performances will go ahead, whatever the weather

Tickets, which are £21 for adults and £15 for students, can be purchased on the Jersey Arts Centre website.

The Magic of Motown

Hits from Diana Ross, Steve Wonder, The Jackson 5 and more will be performed at the Jersey Opera House this month as part of a Motown tribute show.

The Magic of Motown will take place at 7.30pm on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August.

Tickets are available on the Jersey Opera House website.

Community BBQ in St Brelade’s Bay

Islanders are invited to a community barbecue at St Brelade’s Bay this Saturday from 1pm.

It is the first event organised by social platform Jersey Pulse. Organisers are inviting Islanders to “meet some new people, enjoy the beach, have a chat, and hopefully leave with a few new friends”.

Attendees should bring their own food, drinks, chair or blanket, but organisers are cooking up some homemade Jamaican chicken wings with rice and peas for everyone to try too.
