A run, swim and paddle will decide the winner in the junior, open, and tag team categories – all whilst raising money for the Junior Lifesaving Program.

The program develops children and young adults’ lifesaving skills to eventually feed into the RNLI and emergency services.

Jake Powell, the event’s organiser and the director of the Junior Lifesaving Program, said: “The ocean is source of fun for many islanders and our Life Saving Program is all about skilling islanders up from a young age so they can be safe in the sea.

“Our Beach Ironman is an inclusive event, suitable for all levels. It’s the perfect opportunity for islanders to try something new whilst supporting a worthwhile cause.”

The Beach Ironman, which is taking place the magnificent backdrop of La Rocco Tower, is sponsored by the Apex Group.

The group recently made a £7,000 donation to the Junior Lifesaving Program, paying for equipment including paddleboards, rescue tubes, trainer mannequins, trainer defibrillators and CPR mannequins.

Alice Read, Jersey country head at Apex Group, said: “We are delighted to get behind such a great event. Water safety is an important life skill for all children, but particularly so when we live on an island.

“Given the recent incidents on Jersey’s shores which were dealt with by RNLI and Fire Rescue services we hope this event will not only raise vital funds but help build beach awareness and ocean safety.”
