Beaulieu students were part of a team of 10,500 cooks across 42 countries that came together this month to break the record for the world’s largest cookery lesson.
The 15 Jersey students cooked pasta from scratch in two different styles with a fresh tomato sauce on Tuesday 1 July as part of a global initiative organised by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

After going through strict checks with the Guinness World Records organisation, the project was awarded the record for the largest cookery lesson held in multiple venues.
Beaulieu headteacher Matthew Burke said it was an “incredible experience for our students and staff to be part of something this inspiring and global”.
The students followed a cookery lesson broadcast live from the Jamie Oliver Cookery School in London, taught by two of his chefs and moderated by Mr Oliver himself.
The lesson was part of the celebrity chef’s ’10 Skills Programme’, which aims to equip young people with the ability to cook and budget for themselves.
Mr Burke added: “Cooking is a vital life skill, and this event not only taught our students practical skills but also reminded them of the power of community and collaboration.”
At the end of the lesson, students either sat down to eat their pasta dish or took it home to enjoy later.
