A team of young actors from Beaulieu School has won a national drama competition – beating teams several years older.

Year 10 students Lottie, Amber, Isla, Holly and Sophia took the win in the senior category of the Independent Schools Association Drama Competition against schools from around the UK.

The five-person team from Beaulieu performed an extract from the play ‘Girls Like That‘ by Evan Placey, which deals with the pressures placed upon teenagers by tech through the story of a girl whose naked picture is shared online.

Lottie was given an additional accolade, with an individual honourable mention by the judges.

Beaulieu headteacher Matthew Burke highlighted that the Year 10 students had won against a number of Sixth Form teams.

He said the school was “incredibly proud” of them, adding: “To win the senior category against students several years older themselves is an outstanding achievement.

“Their commitment, teamwork and talent were evident throughout the process, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.”
