A bestselling feminist author and the founder of the Everyday Sexism Project will visit Jersey this month to speak about the impact of online sexual harassment and abuse.
Laura Bates is due to visit Jersey College for Girls at the end of June to discuss sexism, sexual harassment and sexual violence impacting young people.
In 2012, Laura founded online platform the Everyday Sexism Project to highlight the pervasive nature of gender-based discrimination in daily life.
The project has since amassed over 200,000 entries from people around the world, describing all forms of gender inequality, from sexism to sexual harassment, workplace discrimination to rape.

She is also the author of eight books – including the bestselling Everyday Sexism, Girl Up, and Fix the System, Not the Women.
During her time in Jersey, Laura will lead a workshop with professionals who work with young people and work directly with students.
She will discuss the impact of the Everyday Sexism Project, share personal experiences, and offer practical advice on how individuals can contribute to creating a more equitable society.
On Monday 30 June, Laura will host an evening presentation focusing how sexual harassment and abuse among young people is often tech-facilitated.

JCG vice principal Toni Rollo said: “This visit supports Jersey College for Girls’ commitment to fostering an environment where students are encouraged to think critically, engage in meaningful dialogue, and become active participants in social change.
“We look forward to welcoming Laura Bates and engaging in thought-provoking discussions on the importance of gender equality and the role each individual plays in challenging societal norms.”
